About the plant
In March, 1971, the state commission accepted the first phase of the investment casting works organized by Sovnarkom (the Council of People's Commissars) in order to provide castings for the Kirov Plant and industrial enterprises of the Russian North-West. At that time, the works formed part of "Pskovkhimlegmach" enterprise.
The plant is located on the north-eastern fringe of the city. It occupies an area of 3.45 ha. The total area of the plant's roofed buildings is 8.26 thousand sq.m., and the area of the manufacturing workshops is 6.26 thousand sq.m.
On 12 October, 1990, the enterprise was acquired by the production association "ZIL". In December, 1994, it was transformed into Closed Corporation "PZTL AMO ZIL".
The major task of the plant has been the uninterrupted supply of castings for the main line and subsidiary enterprises of AMO ZIL.
In 1995, the plant became a distribution point of Moscow automobile plant and its production output dropped to a minimum. It was not until 2001 that the situation began to improve thanks to the participation of Moscow investors represented by the company "Technologiya Metallov" ("Metal Technology").
Thus far, due to restructuring of the plant, production reorganization, and application of investments, the annual production output has grown considerably: from 430 to 778 tons. Sixty new jobs have been created. The staff of the plant is 283 persons and the average wage is 7100 roubles.
Today the plant has the necessary production facilities, energy resources and qualified engineering and regular labour force for the manufacture of 1000 tons of castings per year. We have worked out an advanced development plan aimed at increasing the production output of the plant three-fold.
